The freeNAS jail hosting openVPN has a static IP of 192.168.86.10. The Google Wifi Android app is able to discover the freeNAS server. Typically, it cannot discover the openVPN jail.

FreeNAS 11 was recently released, so I'm going to continue my series on running OpenVPN servers from FreeNAS jails. In theory these instructions could be followed on any old FreeBSD 11 jail, but FreeNAS provides a friendly UI, so why not use it? For giggles, I'm taking screenshots for this with the new FreeNAS UI. So far it's nice. Unfortunately, FreeNAS doesn't come with a VPN, so you'll need to do it from scratch. Luckily, that isn't too hard—you just need to find a VPN service that works for you.
